I’ve tried all the settings in my camera monitoring software, but I just can’t get motion detection to work properly and save recordings onto my hard drive.

There are a number of settings which must be set both on the camera’s firmware, and within’ the camera software, go through this list and ensure all settings are properly set.

1. Firmware->Motion detection page-> ensure “motion detection” settings is checked and that a motion detection window has been placed with the appropriate “sensitivity” and “percentage” values input on the sliders.
2. Firmware->Application-> ensure “event operation” setting is checked.
3. Firmware->Application-> under the “trigger condition” heading, you will see a subheading called “detect motion in:” with 3 checkboxes which correspond to the 3 available motion detection windows. Make sure you check the box corresponding to your motion detection window(s).
4. ST3402 monitor software->Camera Configuration Settings-> under the “alert settings” heading, ensure you have checked the “Enable motion detect” checkbox. (Do not forget to specify the amount of time you wish to be recorded before and after an event as well as whether you would like audio, video or both recorded.
5. ST3402 monitor software->Scheduler Settings-> ensure that you set the times of day you wish motion detection to be applicable (0:0 to 24:0 for all day), and click the “apply selected period to schedule”. You will know this has worked when you see a red bar appear on the timeline corresponding to the times you have chosen. Also, set the scheduler to “event mode” and click the “Window 1/2/3” checkboxes that apply to the motion windows you have set for your camera. Click “Save” to save settings.
